Why Snowshoeing Is the Best Winter Activity in Tromsø
Tromsø sits at 69° North, surrounded by snow-covered mountains, frozen fjords, and trails that are virtually empty in winter. While most visitors stick to the city centre, snowshoeing lets you step into the landscapes you came to see — without needing any prior experience, any special fitness level, or any expensive equipment.
Snowshoes spread your weight across soft snow, so you walk on top of it instead of sinking in. The technique is simple: if you can walk, you can snowshoe. That makes it one of the most accessible outdoor activities in Northern Norway, suitable for families, couples, and groups of all ages.

Where We Go: Kaldfjorden, Just Outside the City
Our trail follows the shoreline of Kaldfjorden, a quiet fjord roughly 20 minutes from Tromsø city centre. The path is flat and follows the coast, meaning you get constant fjord and mountain views without steep climbs. At 3 kilometres, it takes about 2 hours at a comfortable pace — with plenty of stops for photos and a break with homemade cookies and warm blackcurrant juice.
We handle the transport, the snowshoes and poles, and the guiding. You just need warm clothes and a sense of curiosity. Every tour is private to your group — you won't share the trail with strangers.
